Future of Education

In the next class we will discuss about the future of education. First, think about how education has changed since the time your parents and grandparents were students. Realize that in the next generation (30 years), education will likely change even more than it has in the last 100 years. Now, choose one question and answer in the comments. You may give general answers or provide details.

1. What are some ways that education has changed in the last 100 years?

2. Make a prediction about how education might change in the next 30 years.

3. Suggest how you think education SHOULD change in the next 30 years.

In the next 30 years, I imagine that people will have education at home through internet. They can listen lessons on internet, dicuss topics with classmates on internet and also have tests on it. Schools will be places for only activities, for example sports lesson and so on.

I agree with Ko(female). Though we go to the school, we don't need to bring pencil box, textbooks, but bring something high-tech like ipad. Maybe we have no blackboard, either, because we have 3D screen and the teacher will take a live class. hahaha

I think in the next 30 yaers, the number of ways of education will increase and people will be able to choose the style of education they like. Also, in Japan the number of young people decrease and schools have to compete to get students. Each school will create their originality.

School education will be the style on the internet certainly. Attendant on that, the form of school will be no longer necessary and the direct relationship between students and teachers will be broken.
So I think it is very necessary to keep and learn the companionship with others.

In Japan, the image of the school shold be changed. Now, the children think that they have to go to school as their duty and the adult force them to study although they CAN go there as their right actually and this students' attitude is causing their languidness. So we have to change the school to the place where they can leran what they want voluntarily and autonomically.

In Japan it will be natural for elementary school students to study English in everyday class and to use 'electronic blackbord'. But, problems also come out, so the style of high-tech education will chang little by little.

    Today, the technology is developing.
Therefore, it might increase that education using computer, and there may be students who study in home school.
Ultimately, there might be no demand to go to the school.
However, it's so important to go there and communicate with each other. So, schools should be kept though technology is developing.

I think in the next 30 years, people don't bring textbooks or pencil cases to school. Students will use lap-top computers for thier note-taking. All the devices in classroom will be electronized. Also, students in the next 30 years will be more familiar to electronic devices than those in the present.

I think most students will take a class through the internet in the next 30 years and they will be able to communicate with each other, teachers, and students who live in other countries on the internet. So, maybe it will be possible that a student who lives in Japan can take a lesson from Harvard University and discuss about it with students who live in Africa!

In the next 30 years, the number of children will decrease and many schools will be closed especially in the countryside.
However it is important to keep some schools in those region because all the children have the right to get an education in school. And if they
could be kept, they would realize a small class naturally. I think it is good point of rural area.

  11. As an answer for the first question, there're lots of changes like introducing computers, cutting the contents of materials, reducing the school days and establishing a Saturday off.

But the remarkable change is that there's less and less gap between girl students and boy students. Even thought there're separeted schools, but they learn the same things and also the rate of girls studying at university is increasing. Boys also learn cooking and sewing, which was thought for girls 100 years ago.
I think this change is good.

I think in the 30 years, edication will cjange a lot with computer technology and the children would have less comunocation skils with others, so education of comunication will be the most important thing.

As everyone say, I think education will change so much in the next 30 years because of computer technology. Each school will have more computers in the classroom and students will not have to bring their pencil or note.

In my opinion, schools will introduce education by computer. We may use pen tablets to note or not use paper text books but e-books in class in near future.

I think that students will have more chances to use PC and the other electric material in the education in the next 30 years.
It might be exterminate to take notes with pen and notebook.
The ability to use PC will be more important.

  16. I agree that the development in technology will change the way of education in the next thirty years.
However, I hope that not all the students stay at home and never attend school just because they will be able to take their classes through the internet.
It will be useful and environmentally friendly if we wasted less paper by using computers, but I grew up loving my school environments so I hope the system of "schools" never change.

I'm not sure what question I'm answering to, but this is how I imagine education will change and how I hope it will change.

These days people are arguing whether using digital textbooks, or new style of educational equipment (for example iPad or DS, I'm not sure)are good for education or not.
I think 30 years later these style of materials will be the usual ones.
And paper textbooks/dictionaries will no longer be used.....

In the past 100 years,I think education has changed dramatically. After the war,the right of freedom of expression is regarded as natural and students express themselves freely now defferent from the past.

I agree with Shiori. I think paper textbooks will disappear and students will start to use digital textbooks. Then they won't need to bring many textbooks, maybe notebooks neither. But I'm afraid that people will forget writing because even now it is said that young people don't know Japanese Kanji very much because of cell phones.

I think almost all classes will be carried out with electronic text books in the next 30 years.
Actually, many educators have started discussing about this.

In the future, I think schools will disappear and education will take place over the internet. Internet education is spreading already and a world where classes are taken through our iphones may be closer than we think.

  22. 3. Suggest how you think education SHOULD change in the next 30 years.

As everyone think, digital equipements(PC, IPad, etc…) will be main means to study and the place of schools might be no longer necessary for students in the next 30 years.

In addition to these digitization, I think "career education" will be more substantial for students in the future.
At present, many students think they have to go to the school as their duty and they perhaps don't know what they wanna do after graduate.
It is NOT a desireble situation.
Adults(including parents, teachers)should help them to set their goal in life and try to lead them there.

I agree with the opinion that digital equipment will be introduced in the educational situation. But I think current schools will never disappear. Because education in school is not only for knowledges but also communication with other people. 30 year is not enough time to change the basic school system and equipment.
